The client’s brief was to provide a four bedroomed contemporary style house which would fit comfortably in its rural site location. The split level design to take account of the topography of the site whilst contemporary in appearance is traditional in terms of scale with varying ridge levels and also utilises traditional detailing in a contemporary manner such as clipped eaves, austere detailing to chimneys/ dormers and un-clustered fenestration to windows. Contemporary internal detailing includes a feature beech open string cantilevered stairs with glass balustrading.
